In most cases, the rugs are named after the city they are woven in. They are dominated by floral patterns symbolising the gardens of paradise, and nature with motifs of deer, goats, trees and other herbivorous animals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eTabriz\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003erugs were originally designed by royal weavers as monumental palace rugs, which is expressed through the extremely intricate floral designs and were the inspiration for other famous designs including\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eArdabil\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003erugs. The most common motifs in\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eTabriz\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003erugs are the '\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eLachak-Taranj\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e' pattern (central medallion with four corner-spandrels), and the all-over '\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eHerati\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e' design (small repeating diamonds with rosette motifs).
