These rugs have the characteristic deep red (from madder root extract) and dark blue\/black colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eMawri Gul\u003c\/em\u003e rugs are considered fine rugs due to their high knot count and dense pile which gives the rug a soft medium-thick pile and also a significant lustre\/shine which gives a unique colour variation in natural light. They use the symmetrical Turkish (\u003cem\u003eGhiordes\u003c\/em\u003e) knot and the design is well known for it's 'elephant foot' design - small, repeated octagonal motifs.
